Prof. LU Ke Receives Humboldt Research Award

Recently, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany announced that Prof. LU Ke, Director of Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL), has been elected as the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in materials science and technology.

As a leading researcher in the field of nanostructured materials, Prof. Lu contributed to the advancement of materials science and engineering with world-class, trend-setting research. His highly cited research covers nanostructured metals, amorphous alloys, and thin films, dealing with thermodynamic and kinetics of processing and phase transformation, stability and melting, mechanical and tribological properties, physical and chemical properties, etc.

Prof. Lu is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2003), the World Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries (2004), the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina (2005). Prof. Lu has received numerous awards from around the world including the Third World Academy TWNSO Technology Prize, ISMANAM'98 Gold Medal and Junior Scientist Award and Ho-Leung-Ho-Lee Technology Science Award.

The Humboldt Research Award is funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and is conferred in recognition of lifetime achievements in research. In addition, the awardee is invited to carry out research projects of his own choice in cooperation with specialist colleagues in Germany, thereby promoting international scientific cooperation.
