January 8th to 9th，2020，Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL) successfully held its annual meeting. This year’s annual meeting concluded two parts, academic reports and summary meeting.

This year's annual academic reports continued the tradition of “telling stories”. Representative research achievements as well as notable constructive progress were told in each division's stories. Four newly established research divisions also joined the meeting to show their construction progress and research trends. The teachers and students attending the meeting had in-depth and heated discussions with the reporters. Academician Lu Ke, Director of SYNL, Liu Gang, Deputy Director of the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) as well as heads of Administration Departments, leaders of the SYNL, heads of SYNL Research Divisions, heads of SYNL Technical Support Division and all the Principal Investigators attended this meeting. The annual research reports attracted more than 160 teachers and students from SYNL and IMR.

On January 9th, Academician Lu Ke presided over the annual summary meeting. Head of SYNL Divisions and Office as well as representatives of young scientists attended this meeting, carrying out thorough discussions on scientific morality, academic atmosphere, recruit of talents as well as the construction of scientific evaluation system. After this meeting, common grounds have been achieved and specific plans have been made for future deployment.

2019 is an important year for SYNL to carry on its mission. With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, CAS, Liaoning Province, Shenyang City and IMR, SYNL has constantly enriched its research directions and a number of innovative achievements have been achieved. Foreign cooperation system has been continuously improved, and the scientific research funds have reached a new high. In the future, the SYNL will remain true to its original inspiration and continue to contribute to the national construction and social development.
