On July 15th, 2020, the agreement signing ceremony and opening ceremony of Joint R&D center by Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL) and CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. (CRRC) was held. Lu Ke, Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province and Director of SYNL, An Lijia, Deputy Governor of Jilin Province, Wang Feng, General Manager of CRRC, Sha Miao, Chief Engineer of CRRC, and Zhang Jinsong and Li Xiuyan, Deputy Directors of SYNL attended this ceremony.

General Manager Wang Feng appreciated the previous achievements made by both sides. The Joint R&D Center is expected to deepen this cooperation and cover the full chain of materials R&D from basic research, applied research to equipment manufacturing, thus providing a solid support for the China's high-end equipment manufacturing industry.

Deputy Governor An Lijia hoped that the Joint R&D Center will give full play to its intelligence and resource advantages, attracting and nurturing more talents as well as gathering high-quality innovation resources, so as to solve the stranglehold technical problem of railway industry in Jilin Province and realize innovative development. At the same time, it is hoped that CRRC shall firmly grasp this rare opportunities of learning and innovating. Exploiting the wisdom of experts as a powerful driving force, CRRC can enjoy a constant development by leap and bound.

Deputy Governor Lu Ke, while highly affirming the great innovative contribution made by CRRC to China’s high-speed railway, appreciated the development idea of CRRC to establish a life-cycle technology service system based on scientific and technological innovation. At the same time, he stressed SYNL, as the only national research center in materials science, shoulders the great responsibility of advancing the science and technology of our nation’s materials and related industries. By grasping this opportunity of building the Joint R&D Center with CRRC, following the development principle of demand traction and technology-driven at the same time, and focusing on the high-speed railway equipment, we can break the situation of import dependence on key components and lead the future development of high-speed rail industry. Fully leveraging on advantages of both sides, the Joint R&D Center can contribute and promote the development of China's high-speed railway, making it a more shining name card of “Made in China”.

After watching the promotional video of CRRC, Li Xiuyan and Wang Feng signed the contract on behalf of each party. Lu Ke, An Lijia, Wang Feng and Li Xiuyan unveiled the Joint R&D Center together. After the ceremony, they paid a visit to CRRC Data Center, Phase II of National Engineering Laboratory, General Group of High-speed EMU Manufacturing Center and Train Dispatching Site.
