On October 10-11^th, SYNL Youth Forum on Large Scientific Facilities for Materials Research was successfully held at Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The Youth Forum was jointly convened by Li Bing and Zhang Lei, Research Scientists of the Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL). More than 40 young researchers and scholars from over 20 institutes and universities were invited, and a total 34 academic reports were delivered. The Youth Forum also attracted more than 160 teachers and students from IMR, Shenyang Institute of Automation, Northeastern University, Shenyang University of Technology, Shenyang Agricultural University and Shenyang University and etc.

During the forum, the participants had in-depth exchanges and heated discussions on the large scientific facilities and how these facilities powered the researches on structural materials, functional materials, energy materials, and etc. The participants also visited the Technical Support Division and some laboratories of SYNL, and exchanged ideas with teachers and students there.

Through this Youth Forum, the researchers and students of SYNL had deepened their understanding of large scientific facilities, broaden their research ideas, thus enhanced the possibilities of the further interdisciplinary cooperation.

SYNL Youth Forum serves as an academic platform for global young talents to exchange ideas and seek cooperation. Focusing on materials science and technology innovation as well as interdisciplinary research, each youth forum convened by young Pis of SYNL invites outstanding young scholars under a given theme to exchanged ideas and deepen cooperation. In the future, SYNL will continue to hold youth forums to strengthen the ties between SYNL young researchers and outstanding talents in various fields across the globe to continuously advance the materials research in China.
