The studies are mainly focus on the forming process and methods to control the defects, aims at solving the metallurgical defects such as segregation, porosities and mixed grain structure which are common in the current large forgings. Research activities studies on the additive forging technique, technology to control the macro-segregation and central defects of large ingots, technology to manufacture large forged pieces of high quality in short process, the integrated forming control technology of large forgings and complicated pieces, and the whole-process simulation and optimization on hot manufacturing technology of heavy forgings. By collaborating with related core domestic enterprises, we carry on cooperative research to ensure the manufacturing of key components of high quality for nuclear power plants, and provide relevant enterprises with the prototype technology and on-site technical support.
