The research mainly focuses on acquisition of the new structure of cellulose material, the discovery of new functions and the invention of new applications. Current research topics include: The acquisition of the free-standing cellulose elementary crystals (CECs), to confirm the CECs' facet by HRTEM, the characteristic of each facet of CECs, development of anisotropic nanomaterials in combination with chemical anisotropy of CECs, constructing metal and metal oxide nanomaterials using CECs as a template, and explorations of new functions and application in other polysaccharide nanocrystal.
